In Africa, understanding the local environment, mastering the engineering challenges, and building strong relationships with stakeholders are crucial factors of success for any hydroelectric plant. This is why Afreenergy has chosen to develop projects through close cooperation with two internationally recognized project developers:
Hydroneo
Hydroneo is an Independent Power Producer (IPP) dedicated to delivering clean and sustainable electricity across sub-Saharan Africa. Operating in 7 countries with 31 projects totaling up to 318 MW, Hydroneo excels in developing, financing, building, and operating hydropower plants with capacities of up to 30 MW.

The in-house engineering team manages hydropower projects from inception to commissioning, including all development studies, construction management, and plant operation and maintenance.
Tembo Power
Founded in 2015, Tembo Power Holdings aims to develop run-of-river hydropower projects in sub-Saharan Africa. Their current portfolio includes 13 projects with a total expected capacity of approximately 300 MW. Tembo Power forms partnerships with world-class EPC contractors early in the development phase to mitigate risks and joins forces with leading fund managers on the Continent which contribute strategic long-term capital at the ready-to-build stage. With a robust executive team and top-tier advisors, Tembo Power targets a pipeline of 1.0 GW by 2025.
